Should India build more nuclear power plants?

Nuclear power produces electricity around the clock with very low carbon emissions, but it comes with high costs and long build times.

The case for

• Steady low-carbon power that does not depend on sun or wind.

• It needs far less land than solar or wind farms.

The case against

• Plants are expensive and slow to build.

• Safety, waste disposal and local opposition are hard problems.
